Being a Good eBay group leader

Being the leader of an eBay group has it鈥檚 rewards, if the Leader is a good one.What makes a good leader of a Group ?1. Be Optimistic, and positive, and willing to learn from the members.2. Be fair in Your decision making, and consult your Moderators.3. Respect individuals for the person they are.4. Be Active in your groups you lead.5. Have a good group of moderators, and confer with them, before making decisions.When you are a leader of a group, you lead by example. Help those who need help, as well as let others help. Keeping a group atmosphere lighthearted is a must. If you can keep the atmosphere in a group , lighthearted, you will find your members are much more comfortable, and will be more active.Keep trouble out of the group, groups are meant to be fun, and a place where members can meet other members and form friendships, as well as learn, or ask for help.You have to like people, in order to be a good leader. Be helpful to those who need help. Treat people like you would want to be treated.There is a phrase that I have always applied to myself 鈥?If everyone were just like me, what kind of people would everyone be鈥?? And The old saying 鈥?what goes around, comes around鈥?When you apply those two phrases to yourself as a Leader, you can tell what kind of leader you are.It may seem like a small thing, but joking and playing in a group is Very important.It is another way of keeping the atmosphere lighthearted and comfortable, make sure your members know you are just playing or joking with them.One thing I have done, is to post a slight variation of my ID, instead of signing it with my name, or ID, I would post 1lilnaughtybirdy2, instead of 1lilbirdy2. So even tho it may seem like a small thing, it goes a long way in helping keep your group lighthearted.(this was something I learned from one of my members)Complimenting your members, on things is something that will help keep them active in the group. If someone posts something funny, or shows a photo of something, give them a compliment, it costs nothing and will make them feel good too. Be honest in your compliments too.Try to be positive at all times, and this will help others stay positive, and help keep negative things away from your group.Like I said, we lead by Example, so if you are leading in the right direction, others will follow.Your moderators are a very important part of your group, take your time and choose your moderators well, and listen to them, let them know you want their honest opinions, and be open minded to all they say.One of the Best things I have found is having a Co-Leader, who has the same ideals and goals for the group that you have. Your Co-Leader can make decisions and take action when needed. Make sure your members know who your Co-Leader is, and that this person has full authority in the group the same as you have.One last thing, equally important as all of the above, you can not please everyone, but if the majority are pleased with you, don鈥檛 let that one that isn鈥檛 pleased, cause you distress. If you make a mistake, admit it, and go on. Your members would rather have someone who does make mistakes, rather than someone who is perfect all the time.
