Betta fish are a unique and versatile pet. They are colorful, interesting to watch and generally do not require as much space as other tropical species. However, like all pets, they do need a specific set of conditions and care to remain health and happy. Here are the basics of betta care:
Basic Conditions:
Ph range 鈥?6.5 to 7.5 (6.8 ideal)
Temperature range - 75潞 to 82 潞 F (80潞 ideal)
Don鈥檛 forget to add a little sea salt (prevents parasites and fungus)
Water formula: 2.5 gallons of water 10 drops of anti-chlorine solution 1 teaspoon of aquarium salt(Let water reach room temperature before adding.)
Basic Care:
Feed once a day, not more than can be eaten in 5 minutes
Skip feeding once a week
Do not leave uneaten food in tank or bowl
Clean the tank or bowl once a week if not filtrated
Test water Ph once a week (6.5-7.5 optimum)
Keep tank or bowl covered or leave significant room at top
Keep any live plants well maintained
Use a soft, fine mesh net for removing fish
Watch for disease symptoms (see table)
Wash hands before and after betta care
